Study International Relations and Diplomacy
Become an expert in international relations and set your sights on a career in diplomacy or at European and international institutions. The Slovak-language program with optional courses in English, or the exclusively English-language master’s program in International Relations and Diplomacy, builds on the bachelor’s program and is open to all applicants who aspire to succeed on the global stage.
Our program is the only one in the Slovak Republic that focuses on a combination of international relations and diplomacy in both Slovak and English, while also emphasizing courses in international and European law.
Full-time Master's Program in Diplomacy
The program will also feature the participation of the Rector of the Pan-European University and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Slovak Society for Foreign Policy—Dr.h.c. Prof. Ing. Juraj Stern, PhD—in both theoretical instruction and practical training. Other internationally recognized figures who will contribute to the teaching include Prof. JUDr. Dalibor Jílek, CSc.—a former member of the Council of Europe’s Advisory Committee on the Protection of National Minorities and a member of the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance. Students will also gain a connection between theory and practice through special lectures by experts from the field, foreign and Slovak statesmen, and professionals working in diplomacy.
Upon completion of the International Relations and Diplomacy program, students will be equipped with specialized knowledge in the fields of law, political science, economics, and history, as well as language skills. University studies also provide an opportunity to build professional contacts, which we facilitate at Pan-European University through internships, professional placements, and collaboration with partners.
The admission requirements are established by the Faculty Academic Senate upon the recommendation of the Dean. The current conditions for the entrance exam are as follows:
written test – demonstrates proficiency in basic logical and cognitive operations;
written test of language proficiency (in English, French, or German);
informative oral interview with the applicant, focused on a general overview of high school curriculum in social studies, modern world and Slovak history, and current social events.
The final ranking of applicants is determined by the total number of points earned. The dean decides on admission to the program based on the recommendation of the admissions committee in accordance with the established admission requirements. Applicants will be notified of the admission exam results in writing. Lists of admitted applicants for both full-time and part-time study will be published on the faculty’s website or via the University Information System.
The criteria and procedures for admission to the faculty are determined by the faculty’s Academic Senate and are always published no later than September 20 of the academic year preceding the academic year for which admission is taking place.
