School psychology

The basic requirement for admission to the doctoral program “School Psychology” in the field of psychology is successful completion of a master’s degree program pursuant to Section 56(3) of Act No. 131/2002 and successful completion of the entrance examination in accordance with the relevant provisions of Act No. 131/2002.

Doctoral studies in school psychology

Admission Policy at the Faculty of Psychology, PEU, which sets forth the criteria for the admission of applicants, is published on the faculty’s official bulletin board and on the faculty’s website.  (In Slovak)

The study program can be pursued in full-time and part-time formats. A full-time doctoral student has the same obligations as a faculty member. The student performs work directly on campus to an extent that does not interfere with the submission of the doctoral dissertation by the established deadline. Full-time doctoral students are provided with a stipend in accordance with the relevant regulations.

Applicants for study must apply exclusively by submitting an electronic application!

In the application, the applicant must specify one of the listed dissertation topics, which are published on the faculty’s official bulletin board and on the faculty’s website. (In Slovak)

Thesis topics (Slovak)

The applicant must confirm the properly completed e-application. Upon successful submission, a code will be generated for the applicant, which serves as the variable symbol for the €33 application fee.

Required documents:

1. a structured CV signed by the applicant,
2. an officially certified copy of the highest educational qualification (a master’s degree diploma; do not submit bachelor’s diplomas)
3. an officially certified copy of the transcript or certificate of the state final examination,
4. an officially certified copy of the diploma supplement,
5. graduates of foreign universities must attach an officially certified copy of the decision on the equivalence of the educational document, or the decision on the recognition of the educational document, or, where applicable, a nostrification clause (a master’s degree program completed at a foreign university may be recognized based on a written request from the applicant and a positive decision by the Rector of PEU regarding the recognition of educational documents, unless otherwise provided by specific legal regulations),
6. a graduate with a subsequently awarded academic title of “Magister” shall attach an officially certified copy of the confirmation of authorization to use the academic title “Mgr.”,
7. an officially certified copy of the birth certificate (certificate of citizenship),
8. an officially certified copy of the marriage certificate (if the surname has changed due to marriage),
9. a list of published and unpublished articles or a list of results from other professional/scientific activities, or reviews of these works and activities,
10. a draft proposal for the dissertation topic (consult the academic supervisor who assigned the topic regarding the technical aspects) – the proposal must include the objective, theoretical and methodological foundations of the research and approach to the topic, expected results, and a bibliography.
11. proof of payment of the application fee.

Applicants who will complete their master’s degree in the current academic year must send confirmation of completion of their master’s degree to the address below immediately after taking the state examination. Note:

The faculty will not accept online applications that do not include all required information. Only those applicants who submit complete materials by the application deadline will be invited to the admission process.

ADMISSION PROCESS FOR DOCTORAL STUDIES

Applicants who have submitted fully completed e-applications and submitted the required documents to the Department of Science at the Faculty of Psychology will be invited in writing to an oral admission exam. The entrance examination is conducted before an examination committee appointed by the dean. It generally consists of a subject-specific section, a language proficiency assessment, and a discussion of a draft proposal for the dissertation topic.

The admissions committee evaluates the results of the entrance examination in a closed session. If multiple applicants have applied for a single topic, the committee determines the ranking of the applicants. The scope and quality of professional publications, as well as the results of other scientific and professional activities, are also taken into account.

The applicant will be notified of the outcome of the admission process in writing. Upon notification of the decision to admit the applicant to the School Psychology program, the applicant is entitled to enroll in the program at the Faculty of Psychology of the Pan-European University. Enrollment is conditional upon payment of the tuition fee.
