Electronic Application for Doctoral Studies

External PhD Program in Mass Media

• The applicant must confirm the properly completed e-application. Upon successful submission, the applicant will receive a code that serves as the variable symbol for payment of the application fee in the amount of €33.
• The following must be attached to the e-application:
• a certified copy of the diploma conferring the academic title of Mgr., and if the applicant has obtained the title of PhDr. or PaedDr., a certified copy of these diplomas as well,
• a certified copy of the certificate of the state examination in the field,
• information regarding the chosen foreign language for the entrance examination (English, German),
• certificate of the state examination in a foreign language (if the applicant has already passed the state examination, the entrance examination in a foreign language does not apply),
• confirmation of the applicant’s professional experience for full-time study,
• a list of published works or a summary of professional achievements,
• a draft outline of the dissertation (research) in two copies, maximum 5 pages (theoretical background, research objectives and tasks, research questions, methods, forms of research, etc.); the outline must include a list of references,
• proof of payment of the admission fee.
• Applicants who will complete their master’s degree in the 2018/2019 academic year must send confirmation of completion of their master’s degree immediately after passing the state examination to the address below.
• A doctor’s note is not required.

Admission Fee

The admission fee for the Faculty of Mass Media – all levels of study – is €33.

If the correct variable symbol is not used, the payment will not be matched and the Admissions Office cannot process the application further.

The message for the recipient must include the applicant’s first and last name (not that of a family member making the payment).

Please attach proof of payment of the fee to the application for study.

The fee is non-refundable after the application has been registered, in the event of non-attendance at the entrance exam, or if the applicant withdraws the application.

Only applicants who submit complete materials will be invited to the entrance exams.

Entrance Exam for PhD Studies

Candidates are selected based on the results of an entrance interview before the admissions committee, taking into account the candidates’ demonstrated knowledge of the field of study, as well as their ability to explain to the committee the content, research methods, and anticipated results of their dissertation. During the admission interview, the applicant’s language proficiency in the chosen international language is also assessed.

The admission exam consists of an interview on a chosen specialized topic and questions about the research project included in the applicant’s application. The admission exam includes an oral interview in a foreign language. If the applicant submits proof of having passed a state exam in English or German with their application, they will not be tested in a foreign language.

An admitted applicant becomes a doctoral student on the date of enrollment, the timing of which is determined by the dean. Doctoral studies generally begin at the start of the first semester of the relevant academic year. The content of the study programs and the relevant guidelines are available on the faculty’s website.
